Neuros Medical works to help amputees with chronic phantom and residual lower limb pain find relief, decrease pain-induced opioid dependency, improve mental health, and restore quality of life. They recently launched a novel technology to help make this ambition a reality.

The Challenge:

Implantable Device Management

Neuros Medical, Inc. developed patented technology to address the underlying cause of post-amputation pain by inhibiting pain signal transmission from damaged peripheral nerves to the central nervous system. This led to the FDA approval and launch of the Altius® Direct Electrical Nerve Stimulation System, a patient-controlled, on-demand treatment option for chronic post-amputation pain in lower limb amputees.

Neuros Medical sends its sales team into the field to educate physicians directly about the benefits of Altius. Allowing physicians to submit their referrals requires an effective referral process. The Neuros Medical team worked with CopperHill to implement provider onboarding, a provider portal for submitting patient referrals, a patient intake process, and an eVoB (electronic verification of benefits) tool. Neuros Medical purchased Salesforce Health Cloud to help nurture, onboard, and educate physicians about the Altius device, so they can provide better relief to the post-amputee population.

Patient Access Team

The patient access team needed assistance in helping potential patients gain insurance approval for the device implant. Implementing Health Cloud resulted in a more efficient approval process, with improved flows and documentation when working with insurance companies. Along with these advancements, the Neuros team also implemented an electronic benefit verification tool to streamline the entire prior authorization process.

Altius DeviceThe Solution:

Salesforce Health Cloud

Neuros Medical purchased Salesforce Health Cloud with its comprehensive patient access data model used to support commercial onboarding, patient access, and case tracking for surgeries. Health Cloud helps Neuros Medical manage the full patient process from initial intake to post-surgery follow-up. Health Cloud facilitates patient intake and referrals by assessing the fit of the implantable device for the patient. It also streamlines the insurance authorization process to reduce delays before surgery. Before, during, and after surgery, Health Cloud tracks implant procedures and efficiently manages claims.

Salesforce Experience Cloud Provider Portal for Referrals

CopperHill customized a secure provider portal for onboarded Neuros Medical physicians to access key insights regarding their patients, implant processing, and authorizations leading up to and beyond the surgery. By leveraging Experience Cloud best practices, CopperHill implemented a portal with quick actions for submitting referrals easily and viewing the key data needed to properly track the entire intake process.
